in case是引導條件狀語從句假如，萬一；而for fear是引導目的狀語從句以防，以免是嗎？in case of和for fear of呢？還有可以用虛擬語氣嗎？

in case 用于引出以后可能發生的事件時，其后從句用一般目前時，不需要一般以后時。要說：Write it down in case you forget. 記下來，別忘了。......別說：in case you will forget

in case 用于引出過去的事件時，其后從句用一般過去時，不需要過去以后時。要說：I took my umbrella in case it rained.我帶上了傘，以防下雨。......別說：in case it would rain

在較正式的英語中，可以用 in case something should happen 表示以免某事發生： Heres a contact number, in case there should be a problem. 這是聯系電話，有問題可撥打。

表示“唯恐”、“以免”、“為了不”的意思時，in case that 和 for fear that 都是引導目的狀語從句，其中的 that 可以省略；in case of 和 for fear of 是短語，后面不可以接從句，只能接等于名詞用途的詞匯。比如：

She worried for fear the child would be hurt. 她擔憂孩子會受傷。

I cannot sleep at night for fear I should be attacked. 我晚上不敢睡，怕被攻擊。

Better chain up the dog in case he bites. 最好把狗用鏈子拴住，以免它咬人。

Betty got up early for fear of missing the early train. 貝蒂起得非常早，唯恐趕不上早班火車。

in case of 是短語，后面不可以接從句，只能接等于名詞用途的詞匯。比如： In case of fire, break glass. 如遇失火，打碎玻璃。
